The tour starts at Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hue and a symbol of the city. Guests will board a boat to admire the scenic Perfume River, passing thanh trà orchards and Van Mieu, Vo Mieu temples with 32 stone steles honoring scholars from the Nguyen dynasty.
Arriving at Hue Ecolodge, guests explore the peaceful Thuy Bieu Village by bicycle or on foot. Visits include local homes with ancestral altars, where guests learn about Hue’s worship customs. Guests will also see how incense sticks are made and try making them. The tour continues with visits to families making incense sticks, where guests can try their hand at this traditional craft, and to a household specializing in making votive paper offerings like clothes, motorbikes, and money – items crafted from paper to honor the deceased.
Next, visit a local artist’s home to view paintings of Hue’s countryside. After the village tour, enjoy a local meal at Hue Ecolodge. The experience ends with a relaxing herbal foot soak and foot massage by the Perfume River – a perfect way to conclude the day.
