Overview:
Explore the fertile and lush flood plains of the Mekong Delta by bicycle and witness the wonders of the Mekong Delta at a pace ideal for soaking up its many splendours. Along the way visit a Cao Dai temple, an area populated by the Khmer people, delightful fruit orchards and the complex maze of waterways that interlace the scenic Mekong Delta.
DAY 1 ARRIVE HO CHI MINH CITY
On arrival at Tan Son Nhat Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After a welcome drink and tour briefing, you are free to explore the city’s old quarter and its bustling streets at your own pace.
DAY 2 HO CHI MINH CITY - VINH LONG
You cycle west and stop at a Cao Dai temple, a unique religion and tour its colourful church. Continue on through a picturesque part of the delta to Vinh Long, one of the most scenic provinces in the region.
DAY 3 VINH LONG - CAN THO
You spend this morning cycling along An Binh Island with some great scenery to be seen. Stop to visit one of the island’s many beautiful bonsai gardens before pedaling on to Can Tho.
DAY 4 CAN THO - SOC TRANG - TRA VINH
Today cycle deeper into Mekong Delta and visit Soc Trang and region where almost 30% is Khmer. You will have time to inspect some very impressive Khmer temples in the area including the Kh’leng and Bat Pagodas. Continue cycling to Tra Vinh for your overnight stay.
DAY 5 TRA VINH - HO CHI MINH CITY
Before returning to Ho Chi Minh City, enjoy Tra Vinh’s classic delta scenery, vivid green rice paddies, backed by coconut and water palms and its broad tree-lined streets and colonial architecture. You will notice the strong Khmer influence in the area - inhabited by almost 300,000 Khmer.
DAY 6 HO CHI MINH CITY - BUON ME THUOT
Take a morning flight to Buon Me Thuot and cycle through the highlands villages, scattered amongst its stunning landscape before visiting one of the region’s most impressive waterfalls, the Dray Sap. You will also have time to experience an elephant ride across Lak Lake before returning to your hotel.
DAY 7 BUON ME THUOT - DA LAT
Leaving the central highland’s capital, cycle to Da Lat and old French hill station. Renowned for its cool climate, mountain scenery, streams, lakes, waterfalls, evergreen forests and beautiful flower gardens the city’s market rich with region’s produce and vegetable is well worth a visit.
DAY 8 DA LAT - PHAN THIET
A combination of biking and travelling by bus will take you to Phan Thiet, one of Viet Nam’s prime beach side towns, where the beautiful sand dunes area favourite subject for many photographers. After arriving you are free to enjoy swimming and relaxing on this white sandy beach with its crystal blue water.
DAY 9 PHAN THIET
Today visit the region’s major places of interest by bike including the spectacular sand dunes in Mui Ne, the Po Shanu Cham Tower dating from the 18th century and occupying a hill with sweeping views of Phan Thiet. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy your resort facilities or those along the beach.
DAY 10 PHAN THIET - HO CHI MINH CITY
You are totally free at your leisure to enjoy this beautiful beach or cycling to the local market and learn more about the daily life of the locals. After lunch time, travel by bus to Ho Chi Minh City and its bustling atmosphere, a major contrast to our time at Mui Ne.
DAY 11 DEPART HO CHI MINH CITY
You are free at leisure until transferring to the airport for your flight.
