ITINERARY
DAY 1 ARRIVE HO CHI MINH CITY
on arrival in ho chi Minh city Airport you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. After a welcome drink and tour briefing enjoy the first of many delicious dining experiences at a local restaurant.
DAY 2 HO CHI MINH CITY - CU CHI
Explore the city’s historic landmarks including Notre Dame cathedral, the former uS Embassy and experience the excitement of market activities in cho Lon, ho chi Minh city’s chinatown. In the afternoon explore the phenomenal underground tunnel network at cu chi.
DAY 3 HO CHI MINH CITY - MY THO
Transfer to My Tho before commencing to sail upstream while enjoying lunch onboard your colonial steamer. This afternoon moor near cai Be and make a ascinating trip by traditional junk to explore vergreen islands and a former Imperial residence, An Kiet house.
DAY 4 CAI BE - VINH LONG
Take a junk to see the floating market, an old cathedral, colonial buildings and delightful flower gardens. on the island visit local rice paper manufacturers, wandering through a Bonsai Garden and fruit farm, followed by visit to a brick and pottery factory.
DAY 5 CHAU DOC - PHNOM PENH
In chau Doc transfer to small boats to visit a cham tribal village and a cat fish farm, followed by a rickshaw ride round this fascinating town. After lunch cross to the border into cambodia and cruise up the Mekong to Phnom Penh, mooring overnight just downstream from Phnom Penh.
DAY 6 PHNOM PENH
Today visit Wat ounalom, Wat Phnom and the newlypainted Wat Lang Ka, follow by a tour of the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Also see the National Museum, visit the Killing Fields and the Khmer Rouge’s grim Tuol Sleng before trying some bargaining as you shop at the Russian Market.
DAY 7 PHNOM PENH - KAMPONG CHAMD
epart Phnom Penh and stop at the chong Koh silk weaving village for a leisurely walk through this craft village. You cruise past the Mekong’s timeless villages and river life with extensive fishing activities. In the afternoon you stop at Peam chi Kang village to visit the local wat and school.
DAY 8 KAMPONG CHAM AREA
This morning journey to the 8th century pre-Angkorian temple of Wat hanchey, then sail back to explore the Kampong cham area. Travel to the 12th century Angkorian temple of Wat Nokor, visit the eco village of cheungkok and the Kampong cham orphanage.
DAY 9 TONLE RIVER - SIEM REAP
Sail up the Tonle River, passing temples abound along the river banks at Kampong chhnang and see the rich tapestry of cambodian rural life. Take a boat excursion into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the river and house a stunningly broad ariety of bird life.
DAY 10 TONLE SAP - SIEM REAP
cruise up Tonle Sap home to a profuse bird life, passing floating fishing villages before arriving in Siem Reap. This afternoon drive to Angkor Wat for a sunset from the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng.
DAY 11 SIEM REAP
Visit the southern gate of Angkor Thom and move on to the Bayon with its 254 lanuid and mysterious faces. Visit atmospheric Ta Prohm - Tomb Raider temple - with its vine and tree covered pillars and walls. At the end of a great day tour the areas most well known architectural masterpiece, Angkor Wat.
DAY 12 DEPART SIEM REAP
Free at leisure to explore the town at your own pace until transferring to the airport for your flight.
